The data for this site comes from several sources and while as much attention as possible is given to accuracy, there is no guarantee that the data
on this site is complete or accurate. If you find missing, or incorrect data, please, use the contact me form and let me know so that I can correct
it. Also, some of the data from this site comes from individual user information, in those cases, I can not make any type of statement on it's
reliability. If someone is knowingly posting bad data, I will remove it, but beyond that, it will stand as they enter it. When viewing a station
page, it will clearly indicate the source, or sources, of data for them.
Most of the stations on this site are from the National Weather Service which generates data for each of them on a regular basis. Generally at
least every day, and in some cases far more frequently. This site pulls that data 6 times a day, or once every 4 hours, and will update the database
with any new data that has come in. These stations are generally identified by a three letter code when looking on the maps, or station lists. User
entered stations will have unknown update frequencies, and are identified by the code of USER on the map and station lists.
Daily Climate Reports (CLI) from National Weather Service
Detailed daily weather statistics, including temperature, precipitation, degree days, wind, humidity, sunrise/sunset, and record
temperature data for the following day. Precipitation data includes both calendar year and water year totals, percent of normal
values, and comparisons to normal.
The NWS generates a new CLI report for each station several times a day. These reports list various observations and their times and is the main
report I use to collect the daily updates. These are the reports that are pulled every 4 hours for all of the NWS stations.
Preliminary Monthly Climate Data (CF6) from National Weather Service
Daily weather statistics for the month, including temperatures, precipitation, degree days, wind and sky cover. In addition, monthly statistics such as average temperatures and departures from normal, degree days, and rainfall are also included.
These reports are another set of reports that are generated by the NWS each day. They do not list as much information as the CLI reports
but have information for each day of the month being pulled. I pull and process these reports once a day and will update the database from their
data where a CLI report did not get produced or had missing data.
Preliminary Monthly Climate Data from National Centers for Environmental Information
Data sets supplied from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, formerly the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC).
This is NOAA's site for the storage of a vast number of global climate records. For all of the stations in which it is available, I have downloaded the past data
from this site and loaded it into the database. There are some stations in which this is the only source of information I have, and are therefore listed as user
stations and updated manually be me whenever a new dataset is available for that station. There is no regular schedule for these updates.
